Lloyd Banks – Rotten Apple: Album Review

Posted by mindsetofthegreatest on October 12, 2006

Lloyd Banks, Rotten Apple (G-Unit/Interscope, 2006)

After hearing “Hands Up” from BET’s Access Granted, I was thinking “Rotten Apple” would be the album to get. Now after listening to the album twice already and listening to some songs more in-depth, I have come to the conclusion: This album suck balls.

The worst thing you’ll hear from this album is the production. Whoever is responsible for making these beats should take a “bear hug” from 50 Cent [No Lloyd Banks]. The beats are pretty god awful. I think Havoc was making these beats, and I couldn’t blame him…little dude probably couldn’t see the top of the controls.

Track Reviews:

Rotten Apple (feat. 50 Cent, Prodigy)

Why, the fuck did they even bother with this song?

LMFAO @ 50 Cent saying: “Half Christian, half nigga, half man, half gorilla”

Irony.

The chorus is boring as hell and mixing that with Mr. Monotone isn’t a good thing.

Make A Move

Banks talks about his gun toting skills, scaring jigs on the streets is a daily thing for him during the second verse. During that time, he basically tells you how much money he has and other ish. The beat sound like a horrible mix with rock and rap. This song is not good.

Survival

Another, half-assed beat. Also, if any of yall can give me an idea what the fuck is Banks talking about? I didn’t really paid attention.

Iceman

Ehhh…

You Know The Deal (feat. Rakim)

Rakim, is only on the chorus? I was expecting some fire too. Ehh…this song is horrible…fuck. Banks, sorta picked up the energy, but his voice is making me sleepy though…

Help (feat. Keri Hilson)

After deciding to stop rapping about cars, clothes, hoes, money, and guns: Banks seem to go out his way and make a love song. Ironically, this is probably one of the better songs when you get to this point. Another added bonus, you don’t have to turn your volume extra high, you can finally hear him on this one.

Addicted (feat. Musiq)

A song about him trying to be “emotional” about his “street/dangous” lifestyle. Admitting that he is “addicted” [hence, title] to this. Good concept, too bad he couldn’t deliver it.

Hands Up (feat. 50 Cent)

The best song on the entire album.

This is where the review stops…

Lasting Comments: Banks, is going to flop HARD. This album sucks balls badly, and the fact that he can’t “speak up” makes the overall delivery and wordplay on this album even worse. He even tries to “harmonize” his words on some songs. In other words, if you buy this album, your an idiot.
